What's that word for doing everything except the thing you're supposed to be doing?
Writer's block?
Avoidance?
Procrastination?
It happens to the best of us.
I find myself often scheduling a day, a full day, to do nothing but write.
Pour a cup of coffee, stare at the rising steam, and suddenly spot a pile of clothes that were never put away.
While putting away the clothes, I decide to make the bed, real quick.
Leave the room and pass by another room , make that bed real quick, gather the dirty laundry , head to the laundry room and start the third load of the day, real quick.
Head back to steaming hot coffee, less the steam.
Sip its coldness and wonder what I was going to write .
Decide to freshen coffee, head back to the kitchen to pour what remains in the pot, and notice the tomato sauce splatters from last night's dinner, reach under sink for the all purpose cleaner, why isn't it in here? Oh my, this storage container is a mess. Remove it and begin reorganizing. Put away organized container and realize forgot to grab the cleaner, scrub counter and spy my cup of coffee. That is again cooling.
Wash my hands, sit with new cup of coffee, juggle laptop mouse to awaken computer, click tab on blog but accidentally hit the Pinterest tab. After spending way too much time on Pinterest, I find my way back to a blank screen and wonder how quick I can type before I have to start the pick-up-the-kids from school routine.
There just are not enough hours in the day, right?

Ugh, story of my life. I think the word--for me--is the internet. It's the thing the gets in the way of everything else getting done. But it sometimes feels like a justifiable part of the "job." The line is blurry.
