Dumb!

I'm just saying, I think there should be requirements.

Some sort of code, rules to follow, before anyone is allowed to cash such a large paycheck.

I'm just saying, that maybe people should have to diagram a sentence, conjugate a verb or better yet, verbally construct a clear sentence before they are able to receive such monetary rewards.

What are you ranting about now?

A quote from an athlete was broadcast on a sports news show today. The quote was grammatically incorrect and just hearing it repeated left me feeling a little embarassed for the person.

Who were they quoting?

I do not even remember. I do know that the sentence began with "Me and Dwayne", after that my ears began to bleed and I tuned out the remaining words.

It is just so frustrating.

The dumbing down of our society is sad enough. These same stupid people are paid millions more than the average man. Much more than anyone standing in the unemployment line, anxiously awaiting any sort of paycheck.

I am smart, I am eloquent, I can string together sentences and paragraphs to express my opinion.

I am talented.

Where has it gotten me?

Only the dumb are paid dearly, I suppose.

Worry not, this is not the part of the blog where I vow to dumb it down.

I'll continue to bring the funny, the smart and the funny, no matter how little I am paid.

 

 

Rollercoaster

The amusement park, as a child, is pure paradise.

Endless rounds of rides, thrills, and laughs.

Finding that lone ride with no line?  Jackpot!

Ride, run, wait, ride again.

Upside down, sideways, spinning, fast, and loud.

I spent many a childhood day wrapped up in amusement park fun.

I recently watched as my children did the same.

They howled on the Tilt-a-whirl.

 I watched.

Round and round they went, spinning and laughing all the way.

They screamed there way up, up, up on the Free Fall.

I peeked through my hands, afraid to watch as they were dropped, oh 80 feet to the ground.

They screamed their way down a steep hill on the roller coaster.

They even laughed their way around the bumper car track.

I was exhausted and a little queasy, all just from watching.

A sign, that clearly, I am an adult.

SNOW Day

Snow days, days off from school or work are always a welcome treat.

Who can resist an unexpected day off from the daily routine, stuck in the house, snowed in?

It's the perfect excuse to stay in build a fire, bake cookies and brownies, and a big home cooked meal.

I enjoy snow days so much more ,now that my kids are able to climb into waterproof snow gear,gloves, hats, boots and all, on their own. They even know how to take it all off by themselves. I stand in the doorway, wait for the basket to be filled with wet clothes, and cart them all off to the dryer, to get them nice and toasty for their next venture out into the blizzard. It's a small price to pay for an hour of quiet as they play out back in the snow covered yard.

This year's snow day, was no surprise, the third storm this season, but the first to finally arrive on school day . Our school district was well prepared, canceling school before the first flake fell.

Not as much, I suppose, as finding out on a sleepy stormy morning but it will do.

My find memories of snow days, involve lying in bed, listening to he crackle og the local AM station, patiently waiting for our school to be announced as closed for the day. Waiting as they announced all other schools, knowing ours would be next, excited that we could roll over and go back to sleep, yet we never did-  as we were so excited to have a day off, to play outside in the white stuff.

Now, school closing alerts can be texted direct to parents cell phones, can be found scrolling underneath morning news or accessed on any website.

Just not the same.

But the excited feeling, of having an entire day to build igloos, and eat icicles ,it's exactly the same as I remember.

And? even nicer viewed from a warm house

Tooth-Hurty

When I see people who are missing teeth, I automatically question their mental stability.

Toothless grins scare me.

I've always assumed people who have no teeth, have little intelligence.

I am slowly starting to feel they may be the smart ones.

Stay with me here.

I detest the dentist. strike that, my dentist is a lovely woman. I detest the pain I experience when I visit the dentist. Or, in my case, the pain I am in when I am forced to make a dentist appointment.

Truth be told, I only call for a dentist appointment when my tooth pain surpasses the tolerance of 4 advil every four hours, then it must result in a trip to that place.

The dentist office is very deceiving. You know, nice lounge- like leather chair, fun magazines. Don't let any of it fool you. That chair should have  wrist and ankle straps  to assist in the torturing that takes place there.

So, my most recent dentist appointment (yes it's an emergency,yes, I'm in pain please, yes, I can be there at 2:30 today) resulted in another root canal.

I begged to have the tooth extracted, but these dentists and endodontists, like to show off their skills and how great they are at saving teeth, so they perform these archaic-ly painful procedures known as the root canal. Ridiculous really. Why not just yank the tooth out of my head, save the hassle, show that tooth a lesson?

I could have done without that tooth for sure.

Take all of them, I don't care.

Chewing is so overrated.
